Kosovo-Serbia Working Group on license plates to convene on Thursday

Kosovo and Serbia Working Group led by the EU tasked to find a permanent solution on use of vehicle license plates will convene Thursday for the first time, Gazeta Express reports.

Following Kosovo Government decision last month to introduce reciprocity on use of vehicle plates with Serbia that was met with protests by local Serbs in the north and followed with tensions, an arrangement was reached in the EU-facilitated Dialogue on 30 September 2021 on de-escalation and a temporary measure for licence plate issues. The parties agreed to establish a Working Group led by the EU, to find a permanent solution within 6 months based on EU standards and practices.

The Government of Kosovo told T7 that the first meeting of the Working Group will be held on Thursday. “On Thursday, 21 October, will be held the first meeting of the Working Groups on license plates. During the meeting will be reviewed options for a permanent solution based on three main principles: i) The solution should be based on best EU practices and standards, ii) to be applicable and applied by both parties, iii) and if one of the parties blocks reaching of a joint solution or fails to implement what is agreed than this would be the blocking party of the dialogue. No decision expected to be taken in the first meeting,” the Government of Kosovo told T7. /GazetaExpress/
