Blerim Isufaj has been voted by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) to succeed Aleksander Lumezi as Chief State Prosecutor. His candidacy is yet to be decreed by President Vjosa Osmani, Gazeta Express reports.  

The KPC during a meeting Wednesday has voted unanimously Blerim Isufaj as the new Chief State Prosecutor, who during the interviewing process received the highest scores. Isufaj, who is Chief Prosecutor of the Special prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) is yet to be decreed by the President Vjosa Osmani. According to the legislation the President makes officially the appointment, but she reserves the right also to reject the KPC proposal. The KSC in a statement after the meeting Wednesday stated that they expect the President to decree the proposed candidate.

Representatives of the ruling party of Vetevendosje are asking the election process of new chief prosecutor to return at point zero. A report published on 24 March 2022 by the Coalition of NGOs, Kosovo Law Institute, Group for Legal and Political Studies and NGO FOL, was recommended cancellation of the election process of Chief State Prosecutor and opening of a new call. Five candidates were shortlisted for the position of Chief State Prosecutor. /GazetaExpress/
