U.S. Embassy donates equipment to prosecutors, victim advocates, and domestic violence shelters

Representatives from the U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement program office donated laptop computers and other equipment to Kosovo prosecutors, victim advocates, and domestic violence shelters to assist domestic violence victims.

The US Embassy in Pristina said in a statement that the prosecutors and victim advocates will use the laptops to more quickly respond to incidents, which often happen outside normal business hours. “This will enable prosecutors to initiate charges against abusers immediately. Domestic violence shelters will use the equipment to serve the needs of victims they offer refuge, in particular to enable child victims to participate in online school classes,” according to the statement. The US EMbasy said the sharp increase of domestic violence cases during COVID-19 is alarming. “If you or someone you know is suffering from domestic abuse, get help by calling the free Helpline at 0800 011 112 or the Police at 192 or 0800 19 999.
