Kosovo puts capital Pristina under coronavirus quarantine

Kosovo’s capital Pristina has been put under quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Ministry of Health took the decision after 20 new coronavirus cases were confirmed on Saturday in capital.

Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, in consultations with the mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, took a decision to put Pristina under quarantine, the Ministry said in a press release. The decision puts Pristina in complete lockdown after two weeks of moderate restrictive measures.

The National Institute of Public Health tested Saturday 130 samples all over the country and 33 out of them were tested positive, bringing the country’s official number of cases to 283. The positive cases in addition to Pristina are from Prizren, Viti, Mitrovica North, Skenderaj, Suhareka, Zubin Potok and Zvecan.

The Ministry of Health urged all citizens to respect measures and guidance of the National Institute of Public Health to prevent further spread of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health ordered earlier on Saturday to put under quarantine also the municipality of Ferizaj, after several cases were also tested positive following contacts with already confirmed COVID-19 patient. /GazetaExpress/
