German FM: Game with borders prolong solving Kosovo-Serbia issue

German Foreign Minister, Heiko Mass, in a debate at the Bundestag has strongly opposed land swap idea between Kosovo and Serbia.  

Maas said the land swap idea was brought to negotiation table not only by Kosovo and Serbia, but also other parties who have influence over the two countries. Mass said that games with borders further prolong solving of complex problems between Kosovo and Serbia.

“The goal is to get away from a solution involving borders, which have been presented at the negotiation table not only from parties, but also from others, who want to exert influence there,” he said. “Games with such ideas only would delay solving of this complex problem and would lead nowhere but to a dead end,” Mass said according to the Deutsche Welle.

Mass spoke also on the security situation between Kosovo and Serbia considering as relatively sustainable, adding that from the political point of view relations between Pristina and Belgrade have deteriorated. He promised further engagement of Germany in resumption of dialogue, including during Germany’s EU’s rotating presidency starting on 1 July. /GazetaExpress/
