Kosovo’s former prosecutor found dead in his apartment

Agron Matjani, former prosecutor was found dead Thursday morning in his apartment in Prizren, the Kosovo Police have confirmed.

The Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Prizren region, Shaban Osmanollaj, confirmed the news to Gazeta Express. The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren issued a press release, announcing that on Thursday at around 09:30 Matjani was found dead in his apartment in Prizren by members of his family who reported the authorities. “The prosecutor on duty in cooperation with relevant police unites, have responded to the scene and an investigation has been launched. At the order of the prosecutor, the body of the victim was transferred at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina,” it is stated in the press release.

Matjani was dismissed as prosecutor at the Basic Prosecution Office in Gjakova and an indictment was filed against him, accused of misusing his official duty by reducing charges in violation with the applicable laws. /GazetaExpress/
