Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci has invited Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti to a consultative meeting on Wednesday. Thaci has announced that he would begin meetings with leaders of political parties this week to consult further steps needs to be taken following the no-confidence vote in Kurti’s Government.
“Following the no-confidence motion in the Government, I will take the steps set forth in the Constitution. In this regard, I invite you to participate in the consultation meeting to discuss further steps,” Thaci’s invitation to Kurti reads.
The President’s Office announced last week that consultations with political entities will start on Monday after Parliament’s no-confidence vote in Government last Wednesday. Thaci met on Monday Ambassadors of Quint in Kosovo and issued a statement on Twitter saying that after consultations with political parties, he will take all the steps, as per Constitution, to move forward following the no-confidence motion for the government. “Throughout the process a priority remains coping w/ #COVID19 pandemic,” Thaci said.
Kurti’s party Vetevendosje is disputing Thaci’s role in this process saying that according to the Constitution Thaci should invite political entities only to declare new elections and not form a new government /GazetaExpress/
