Hague prosecutors summon former Kosovo MP

Former member of Kosovo Parliament, Zafir Berisha, has been summoned for questioning by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) at the Hague. Berisha, who was former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during 1998-1999 war in a Facebook post said he hopes this summons is the last one aimed at staining the Kosovo war.

“No injustice can diminish the war and efforts of the KLA for freedom. The invitation from the Special Court in the Hague, I hope would be the last effort to stain the war and sacrifice of Albanians for freedom. The tendency to compare liberation war of the KLA with the genocidal wars of Serbia by this court which is a product of a ‘report’ fed by Serbia and their remains in Kosovo, is an offence for thousands of citizens killed by state apparatus of Serbia,” Berisha wrote. The SPO since the beginning of 2019 has summoned more than 200 ex-KLA members and civillians for questioning. Among those summoned are almost all members of the General Headquarters of the KLA.
