Vetevendosje issues new offer to LDK

The Vetevendosje Movement as winner of October elections in Kosovo made a new proposal to the LDK party, ranked as second, as a way of finding common ground to form a government and avoid institutional crisis.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) confirmed Tuesday that they have received an offer from the Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti. Gazeta Express reports. In a press release the LDK said the Vetevendosje made them a “similar” proposal presented in last week’s meeting with their chairman, Isa Mustafa. However, the LDK admits some “small change” were made and they will review the new offer in “coming days.”

Media reported on Tuesday that Kurti, who is Vetevendosje’s candidate for prime minister, has proposed the LDK take more ministerial posts in an extended government with 14 ministries two more than initially agreed by the two parties during negotiations on harmonizing of programs. Also according to media reports the Vetevendosje in its new offer agrees the LDK proposes a “suitable” candidate for president after mandate of current president expires in 2021. If, for whatever reason the LDK’s proposal is not elected as president, the Vetevendosje’s Kurti expressed readiness to accommodate an additional LDK member in his cabinet as part of this new arrangement.

Three months after early elections took place the Vetevendosje and LDK have failed to reach a deal on co-governance leading the country towards institutional stalemate. /GazetaExpress/
