PM Kurti gets Covid vaccine a day after shipment of first doses in Kosovo

Kosovo prime minister, Albin Kurti, will receive the COVID-19 vaccine today, Gazeta Express reports. Kosovo received Sunday evening the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines of the AstraZeneca producers through the COVAX alliance.

The Prime Minister’s Office announced that Kurti will get the COVID-19 vaccine today at 16:30 on 1 October Sports Hall in capital, Pristina. “The Prime Minister Albin Kurti will get the AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine. Venue: Sports Hall ‘1 October’, Pristina; time 16:30hrs,” according to a media statement issued by the Government of Kosovo.

Kosovo got 24,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine through the COVAX program and initially authorities will start vaccination of healthcare workers and vulnerable people. Albin Kurti who expected the arrival of vaccines at the Pristina Airport on Sunday evening announced that inoculation will begin immediately. Kosovo is expected to get from COVAX a total of 100.800 doses of COVID-19 vaccines of the AstraZeneca company.

Authorities have already approved a vaccination program in three phases: In the first phase authorities will vaccinate health workers, nursing home patients, citizens over 80 years old, and those with chronic diseases. The second phase will focus on workers employed in education, people involved in managing the pandemic, and those aged 65 to 79. In the third phase, the state will vaccinate 50 percent of the population. /GazetaExpress/
