Kosovo, Serbia agree to a joint economic forum

Economic chambers of Kosovo and Serbia agreed to create a working group which would help both countries implement the projects of the September 4 Agreement reached in Washington, and offer support to implementation projects on infrastructure, energy and generating new jobs.

Representatives of the economic chambers of both Kosovo and Serbia and a delegation of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) met Tuesday at the residence of the US Ambassador to Belgrade, Anthony Godfrey. The meeting was attended by the DFC Chief Executive Officer, Adam Booehler, US special envoy on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Grenell, Ambassador Godfrey, head of Kosovo Economic Chamber Berat  Rukiqi, and head of Serbian Economic Chamber Marko Cadez as well as president of the American Chamber in Serbia, Zoran Petrovic.  

Boehler said that Kosovo and Serbia with the agreement on normalisation of economic relations are in the interest of people and not politics. Rukiqi said the agreement reached in Washington, is the most important one for Kosovo and Serbia as well as the Western Balkan region. Cadez said the Washington Agreement will bring stability in the region. “Now we have a joint team to support projects and offer our expertise aimed at implementing projects,” Cadez stated.

Grenell said the US President Donald Trump decided to prioritize economy as related to Kosovo and Serbia.

A US government delegation led by Boehler and Grenell are visiting Serbia today. On Monday, the delegation visited Kosovo when they signed an agreement with Kosovo prime minister Avdullah Hoti and pledged millions of dollars of investments. The Serbian president’s office confirmed Tuesday that a similar agreement was signed in Belgrade. /GazetaExpress/
