Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and minister of Health Rifat Latifi visited Wednesday a vaccination centre in Fushe Kosove and urged citizens to get booster dose and of vaccine and respect COVID-19 measures amid a spike in COVID-19 cases, Gazeta Express reports.  

The Ministry of Health in a statement said that after confirmation of the Omicron variant in Kosovo on 26 December there was a spike of new virus infections over the last few days. The Ministry said that the Prime Minister and minister of health emphasised that the Government is prepared that jointly with health authorities to take measures based on the epidemiologic situation in Kosovo. Both PM Kurti and minister Latifi agreed that there should be no ease of COVID-19 measures already in place. Kosovo introduced Monday new COVID-19 measures making mandatory complete vaccination certificate (two doses) for all who enter Kosovo territory. Additionally, those passing through Kosovo, the under 12’s, and those with medical exemptions are excluded from the requirements. Full evidence of vaccination will also be required for everyone using public transport and wearing masks in public remains mandatory. /GazetaExpress/
