LDK asks new Kosovo Government to be voted on Wednesday at 11:00

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) asked the Parliament hold an urgent session on Wednesday at 11:00 and vote a new Government headed by their member Avdullah Hoti, Gazeta Express reports.

Chief of the Parliamentary Group of LDK, Arben Gashi, confirmed the news after submitting a request to the Parliament. “Following the final ruling of the Constitutional Court, on behalf of the LDK and signatory MPs I have submitted a request asking the Parliament be convened on Wednesday at 11:00 with the only point of the agenda – to vote new government. We expect to have new Government on Wednesday, Gashi said.

The LDK chairman Isa Mustafa said that he will convene on Tuesday Steering Committee of the party to decide on names of ministers of the new Cabinet which will be headed by Avdullah Hoti.

Last week the Constitutional Court ruled that President Hashim Thaci did not violated the Constitution when nominating Hoti to form a new Government without holding fresh elections. Today the Court published the decision in full paving the way for the LDK to initiate procedures on forming new Government. The Vetevendosje challenged Thaci’s decree to the Constitutional Court insisting Kosovo needs new elections to have a legitimate government.

The Government headed by Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti, was dismissed on 25 March after only 50 days of work, following disagreements with its main partner, the LDK over tariffs on Serbian goods and management of CVID-19 pandemic. /GazetaExpress/
