Kosovo not officially invited to join ‘Open Balkan’, says Foreign Minister

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla said that Kosovo will not join the regional initiative ‘Open Balkan’ supported by Albania, Serbia, and North Macedonia. Reporting at the Assembly’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Gervalla said that Kosovo is not asking alternatives to replace European Union membership, Gazeta Express reports.

“Kosovo needs no alternative to replace European Union membership, and we need such alternatives which are more words rather than serious offers,” she told Kosovo MPs. Kosovo’s chief diplomat said that Pristina was never officially invited to join this initiative. “The Republic of Kosovo has never received a description of what the ‘Open Balkan’ initiative is. The Republic of Kosovo has never received an official invitation to participate such meetings, all we heard are public statements,” Gervalla said. She said the “Open Balkan” is a Serbia’s tool ready to use it against Kosovo and obstruct its regional integration. /GazetaExpress/
