Dozens arrested over Kosovo agriculture funding fraud

12 people have been arrested and nearly 400 thousand euro in cash was seized during a Kosovo Police operation in the Ministry of Agriculture and in four municipal agriculture directories.  

Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksander Lumezi, during a press conference Wednesday said the arrested persons are suspected of misuse of agriculture subsidies, bribery, and misuse of official duty or authority. He said that the State Prosecution office has launched an investigation in January and has ordered search of several locations where the suspects hid the illegally obtained money. “During the searches we have confiscated a large amount of money, cars, laptops, computers, cell phones and other material evidence,” Lumezi said.

Director of the Economic Crimes and Anti-Corruption within the Kosovo Police, Nazmi Sahiti, said that during Wednesday’s operation they have confiscated nearly 400 thousand euro. /GazetaExpress/
