Borrell after visiting Washington invites Kosovo, Serbia leaders to Brussels

The EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, has spoke over the phone with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and invited them to Brussels for dialogue.

EU’s lead foreign affairs spokesperson, Peter Stano, during a press conference said the EU High Representative Josep Borrell during his visit to the United States has discussed with Kurti and Vucic and invited them to go to Brussels for dialogue, Gazeta Express reports.

“I can confirm that the EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, in discussion with Secretary Blinken has raised the issue of what is currently happening in Kosovo. The EU and US are closely working in the Western Balkans, and we have same objectives. Borrell during his visit to the US has talked with Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic relasted to the situation and has reiterated need to go to Brussels to discuss in the frame of the dialogue, to advance the dialogue and reach progress in dialogue in order to avoid similar situation as we seen in northern Kosovo recently and between Kosovo and Serbia,” Stano said. He also said that Borrell and Blinken have agreed that de-escalation is needed in the north. “Both, Josep Borrell and Athony Blinken agreed that de-escalation of situation and resumption of negotiations is needed,” Stano said. /GazetaExpress/
