US Senator Chris Murphy and PM Kurti discuss Kosovo’s process to join NATO

US Senator Chris Murphy said in Pristina that he discussed with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti about mutual interest in continuing Kosovo’s process of joining both the European Union and NATO, Gazeta Express reports.

Senator Murphy during a press conference with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that Kosovo’s membership in NATO is in the interest of the US. “In our discussions here today, we talked about our mutual interest in continuing Kosovo’s process of joining both the European Union and NATO. Obviously, the US has more to do with the NATO process. But is more urgent now than ever that we make sure that countries like Kosovo that lie on a periphery of a cornered Russia enjoy the umbrella of protection,” Murphy said. Murphy said that he finds encouraging to hear Kosovo has marked progress in economic development and fighting corruption.

US Senators Jeanne Shaheen, Chris Murphy, and Thom Tillis are visiting Pristina today as part of a Balkan tour. They also met President Vjosa Osmani and visited the US military base of Bondsteel. /GazetaExpress/
