US Ambassador Hovenier: We strongly condemn the violence against sovereign authorities of Kosovo

US Ambassador to Pristina, Jeff Hovenier, has strongly condemned today’s attack against the Kosovo Police officers near Zubin Potok in northern part of the country. Hovenier said the US Embassy is deeply concerned by reports of gun shots fired at Kosovo sovereign authorities while carrying out their official duties, Gazeta Express reports.

“The U.S. Embassy is deeply concerned by reports of gun shots fired & rocks thrown at Kosovan law enforcement officials near Zubin Potok. These attacks occurred as the sovereign authorities responsible for maintaining peace & security were carrying out their official duties,” Hovenier said in a statement posted on Twitter.

Ambassador Hovenier said the US strongly condemns this deplorable, unjustifiable violence and caution against speculation that would increase tensions. “We strongly condemn this deplorable, unjustifiable violence. Law enforcement officials are responsible for investigating the situation. We caution against speculation that would increase tensions and will condemn any efforts to impede this essential work,” Hovenier wrote.

The attack against Kosovo Police members in Zubin Potok on Friday morning has been condemned also by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President’s Office, EU Office in Kosovo and KFOR. /GazetaExpress/
