Kosovo Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, appointed Tuesday Andin Hoti, as new head of the Government’s Commission on Missing Persons, Gazeta Express reports.

Andin Hoti is the son of Ukshin Hoti, a former professor of philosophy at Pristina University who went missing during the war in Kosovo. Hoti was in jail in 1999 serving a long sentence for his activism defending the rights of Albanians under Slobodan Milosevic’s regime. He was released from prison in May 1999 and went missing once he stepped out of the Dubrava prison’s main gate.

The Prime Minister’s Office in a statement issued on Tuesday said that issue of the missing persons is one of the priorities of the Government, and Hoti’s appointment shows that this topic goes beyond politics. Andin Hoti who served two terms as MP in Kosovo Assembly is member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the main rival party of Kurti’s Vetevendosje. /GazetaExpress/
