Kosovo’s caretaker prime minister, Albin Kurti, received Tuesday a letter from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary General Angel Gurria.

In his letter Gurria expressed OECD’s solidarity with Kosovo’s government and its citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic. “While it is commendable that in many economies, including in Kosovo, ambitious responses are underway, only a combined, co-ordinated international effort will meet the challenge. In this context, the virtual EU-Western Balkans Summit of 6 May 2020 is an important milestone. Be assured that building on our longstanding expertise and our analyses, the OECD stands ready to further engage with your government to support your recovery efforts, advising on policy solutions and helping you steer your economy towards a bright, European future,” Gurria said in his letter.

“The OECD is doing its utmost to provide timely and relevant analysis to governments as they navigate the different policy implications of this crisis,” according to the letter. “Through its South East Europe regional programme, the OECD has been supporting Kosovo and other economies in the region to design and implement reforms to foster competitiveness, attract more and better investment, and raise living standards. Please be assured of our continued support in these unprecedented times. I am enclosing a summary note of our preliminary assessment of the COVID-19 impact on the Western Balkans, which features some recommendations for immediate action,” Gurria said in his letter. /GazetaExpress/
