Members of “People’s Eye” jailed for the attempted murder of Kosovo’s ex politician

A Kosovo court sentenced eight members of the criminal organization called “People’s Eye” to a total of 40-years imprisonment found guilty of attempted murder of country’s former communist leader and lawyer, Azem Vllasi.

The Basic Court in Pristina ordered a 10-year mandatory psychiatric treatment for the main defendant of this case, Murat Jashari, who in March 2017 wounded Kosovo veteran politician and lawyer Azem Vllasi in his apartment. Jashari was accused as being member of a criminal organization called “People’s Eye” who made a hit-list of current and former politicians, and personalities for as they said “betraying Albanian national interests.”  Jashari’s lawyer, Fehmije Gashi-Bytyqi, told media after the court’s verdict that experts have advised her client be returned to Switzerland for further psychiatric treatment, but the Court has ruled Jashari be treated at the psychiatric institute of Kosovo. In addition to Jashari, the panel of judged has ordered prison sentence also for other accused of this case. Avni Llumnica has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, Sadri Ramabaja 5 years, Ragip Sallova 4 years, Bajrush Konjusha 3 years, Halim Halimi 3 years, Rexhep Topllana 2 years, Behgjet Luzha2 years. Two of the accused Sabit Berisha and Lirije Luzha have been acquitted. /GazetaExpres/
