Kosovo’s late President Ibrahim Rugova’s statue unveiled in his home town of Istog

A bronze statue of Kosovo’s late president Ibrahim Rugova has been unveiled in his Istog home town.

The inauguration ceremony of the Memorial Complex “Ibrahim Rugova” was attended by prime minister Avdullah Hoti, Istog mayor, Haki Rugova, the daughter of former president, Teuta Rugova.  

Rugova was the founder of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and was elected as the first president of Kosovo in 2002 and again in 2005. The statue was erected today honouring his birthday. Ibrahim Rugova, writer, academic and politician, was born December 2 1944; died January 21 2006. /GazetaExpress/
