Kosovo’s caretaker PM Kurti accepts President’s invitation to a meeting
Kosovo’s caretaker prime minister, Albin
Kurti, confirmed that he will meet president Hashim Thaci on Wednesday accepting
thus an invitation he sent to all political leaders following a no-confidence
vote in Government last week.
Kurti in an interview with KTV said that his legal advisors told him to go to the meeting tomorrow adding that he will not go there as leader of the biggest party in parliament – Vetevendosje but as country’s caretaker prime minister. Kurti said that he will inform the President about his position following a no-confidence vote in his Government last Wednesday. Kurti said the President has no legal competencies to launch consultations with political parties to form new institutions, adding that the situation after dismissal of his Government is not “a post-election” situation. He also accused President of trying to manipulate MPs representing minorities in Kosovo Parliament not to vote his Government on 3 February, but as Kurti said MPs representing minorities have not trusted Thaci’s word and attended the session when he was elected as country’s prime minister. After 50 days in power Kurti’s Government was toppled by lawmakers in a no-confidence vote initiated by junior ruling coalition partner – the LDK because of disagreements over handling of coronavirus crisis. /GazetaExpress/
