Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gervalla, said that Kosovo is expected to take a decision this week for sheltering of five thousand Ukrainian refugees.
Reporting at the Assembly Committee on Foreign Affairs she also said that they asked NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo – KFOR to close Kosovo airspace to all Russian flights, Gazeta Express reports. But KFOR’s spokesperson Daniele Riggio told KosovaPress that Kosovo’s airspace remains open to Russian flights despite the request of Kosovo institutions.
Briefing MPs on security situation in Kosovo following Ukraine’s invasion by Russia, Gervalla said that there are no indications that Kosovo is exposed to any direct threat, adding however that the country should remain cautious and prepared to any potential scenario. She said that the Government is in continuous contact with all partners and allies and are closely following all developments in the region. “I must emphasise that no one should be concerned in Kosovo, because there are no indications whatsoever of a potential armed conflict with anyone,” Gervalla said. /GazetaExpress/
