Kosovo President believes Trump and his special envoy will help conclude a deal with Serbia

Kosovo president Hashim Thaci welcomed the decision of US Administration to extend the mission of US troops serving with the NATO-led force KFOR, saying the only with the US military presence the Western Balkan region is safe.

Thaci paying homages at the memorial of KFOR soldiers who lost their lives while serving in Kosovo, said that Kosovo is responsible in its relations with the US and expressed his belief that the Administration of US President Donald Trump and the work of his special envoy on dialogue, Richard Grenell, would contribute to reaching a final agreement on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia and enabling Kosovo to join the United Nations.

“I fully believe the Trump’s Administration and Grenell will move things towards a final agreement which will bring mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia,” Thaci said. Thaci said that Kosovo has removed all obstacles on dialogue and Serbia has no justification to delay negotiations. “I believe the US will take right decision, especially now after removing of dialogue obstacles. Now Serbia has no pretext and every delay will be attributed to them,” Thaci said.

Asked about his role in the negotiations, Thaci said that whoever reads the Constitution knows what his role is. Thaci also urged political leaders to unite and move forward with the dialogue with Serbia. “We need inclusion. We have a fragile government and the cooperation with opposition is needed. Every reached agreement should be ratified by the Assembly,” Thaci said. /GazetaExpress/
