Gazeta Express has asked the Prime Minister’s Office whether the US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien told Albin Kurti that the US is “considering” its military presence in Kosovo. Kurti’s Office says that US President Donald Trump’s advisor has not mentioned withdrawal of US military from Kosovo.
A day after Kosovo PM missed an important call from the White House, PM Kurti on Tuesday spoke over the phone with the US National Advisor Robert O’Brien and special envoy on dialogue, Richard Grenell. Kurti’s Office told Gazeta Express that during the phone conversation Ambassador O’Brien and Ambassador Grenell, have not mentioned potential withdrawal of US troops from Kosovo, or stopping of any financial aid for our country.
A senior US official told Gazeta Express that because of Kurti’s rigid stance on dropping tariffs against Serbian goods, the O’Brien told Kurti that the US is considering its military presence in Kosovo and continuation of investments.
The Prime Minister’s Office says the US is committed to help Kosovo develop its economy and security in the Balkans region. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Kurti agreed with O’Brien and Grenell to continue the communication. A source told Gazeta Express that Kurti told the US officials that he is against abolishing tariffs completely without introducing reciprocity measure. /GazetaExpress/
