Kosovo PM Kurti speaks by phone with North Macedonia President Pendarovski

Kosovo’s caretaker prime minister, Albin Kurti, spoke by phone with North Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski, to discuss unneighborly relations between the two countries.

Kurti’s phone call with Pendarovski comes days after Serbian state leaders have harshly criticized North Macedonia President statement opposing land swap, an idea which is opposed also by the Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti, Gazeta Express reports.

According to Prime Minister’s Press Srevice, the tow leaders discussed COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by Pristina and Skopje to manage the situation and recover once the pandemic is over. According to the statement the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to good unneighborly relations with the North Macedonia.

“Mutual regional cooperation is always important, especially nowadays. The Republic of Kosovo remains committed to good unneighborly relations with its neighbors and to be a key factor contributing to the region,” according to the statement.

North Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski in an interview with Gazeta Express a few days ago, said that he is against the land swap idea between Kosovo and Serbia adding that land swap or exchange of territories undermines the entire progress achieved in the region over the last 20 years. Serbian state leaders have condemned Pendarovski’s statements advising him not to interfere Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. /GazetaExpress/
