Prime Minister Albin Kurti declined an invitation to meet president Hashim Thaci to discuss as President’s Office said “issues of national interest.” Kurti said he is not interested in meeting Thaci as leader of the Vetevendosje, whereas as Prime Minister he would meet the President after he finishes scheduled meeting with political leaders.

Kurti turned down the invitation of President Thaci who on Monday invited Kurti in his capacity as the leader of Vetevendosje and not as prime minister of Kosovo. The Vetevendosje’s press office confirmed to Gazeta Express that Kurti will not answer the President’s invite for scheduled meeting at 13:30.

Kurti said that President Thaci should have attended a special session of Parliament dedicated to victims of sexual violence during the war and not hold “separate meetings, to further divide” political leaders. Kurti said that as the Vetevendosje leader he is not interested in meeting Thaci, whereas as Prime Minister he would meet him only after Thaci finishes his scheduled meeting with leaders of political parties represented in Parliament.

Thaci confirmed in social media that he met on Monday the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa, a party which is in coalition with Kurti’s Vetevendosje. In addition, the president also met opposition leaders Kadri Veseli of the Democratic Party (PDK), Ramush Haradinaj of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and Behgjet Pacolli Alliancew New Kosovo (AKR). Kurti has invited twice Thaci this month, but the President has not answered. /GazetaExpress/
