Kosovo Parliament Speaker meets KFOR Commander

Speaker of Parliament, Vjosa Osmani, hosted Monday KFOPR Commander, General Michele Risi to discuss security in Kosovo and KFOR’s help in managing COVID-19 pandemic.  

According to a statement issued by Speaker’s Office Osmani was informed on readiness of NATO structures, namely its mission in Kosovo – KFOR, to help citizens and institutions in managing COVID-19 pandemic. The statement says that General Risi expressed readiness of KFOR to offer all necessary capacities and help the people and institutions of Kosovo.

Osmani urged Commander Risi on deepening of cooperation of KFOR with security institutions of Kosovo and avoid situations such was the case of Karaceva last week.

Speaker Osmani was referring to media reports that last week that members of Serbian Gendarmerie were seen patrolling inside the village of Karaceva along the border with Serbia. According to Kumanova Agreement signed between NATO and Serbian Army which ended the war in Kosovo in June 1999, KFOR is responsible for protection of administrative boundaries of Kosovo. KFOR issued a statement last week saying that the presence of Serbian Gendarmes inside Kosovo territory was part of a joint patrolling between Serbian border police and KFOR. /GazetaExpress/
