Kosovo Parliament passes law to fight coronavirus

Kosovo Parliament Friday passed a special law on preventing and fighting COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaker of Parliament, Vjosa Osmani, who sponsored the Law, thanked MPs for supporting her initiative. The Law was approved with 77 votes in favour after opposition MPs of Vetevendosje endorsed it.

The Draft law on prevention of COVID-19 pandemic was initiated in April after the Constitutional Court ruled as unconstitutional the Kosovo Government measures on movement restriction. The Constitution in its decision said that restriction of the basic human rights can be done only through a special law approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Law has only eight articles and is aimed at creating necessary judicial frame for authorities to prevent and fight the pandemic.

Kosovo Government is responding to the COVID-19 crisis based on the Law on prevention of infectious diseases. /GazetaExpress/
