Kosovo imposes sanctions on Russia over actions in Ukraine

Kosovo has decided to impose sanctions on Russia over its aggression against Ukraine, the Prime Minister Albin Kurti said during the Government meeting on Friday, Gazeta Express reports.

The Government of Kosovo convened Friday and approved the decision to impose sanctions joining thus the United States and the European Union who imposed harsh sanctions against Russia following military invasion in Ukraine.

According to Government’s statement the sanctions consist of freezing of assets in the Republic of Kosovo of sanctioned individuals or entities; travel ban in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo for sanctioned individuals; Prohibition for individuals and entities in the Republic of Kosovo to make funds available, either directly or indirectly, to sanctioned individuals and entities.

Kosovo institutional leaders Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President Vjosa Osmani and Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca issued Thursday a joint statement condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. On Friday President Osmani met separately representatives of opposition parties:  the Chairman of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, the Deputy Chairwoman of the PDK, Vlora Citaku and the Deputy Chairman of the AAK, Muharrem Nitaj, informing them on current security situation in the country after Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The President’s Office said in a statement that she also informed the opposition parties about the measures taken by the institutions of Kosovo, especially by the security institutions, and about coordination with international partners. /GazetaExpress/
