Kosovo prime minister, Avdullah Hoti, met Tuesday Foreign Minister Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla and agreed to send a request to the President’s Office asking launch of procedures for establishing of the diplomatic mission in Israel, Gazeta Express reports.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that Israel remains a strategic partner of Kosovo and establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries comes is a result of the 4 September Agreement signed at the White House.
Israel’s recognition of Kosovo is part of a deal announced on September 4 by the White House. The deal stipulates that Kosovo will open embassy in Jerusalem – a development that Israel and the United States are advancing. Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi spoke last month to his Kosovo counterpart, Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla, for the first time as a sign that the two countries are in a path of establishing diplomatic relations. /GazetaExpress/
