Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani on Tuesday announced a one-year extension of the mandate of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo – EULEX.

The President’s Office in a statement published on Tuesday said that the extension was made following an exchange of letters with Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief.

In her letter addressed to Borrell, President Osmani writes that EULEX will have a technical mandate, without executive powers based only in monitoring, mentoring, and advising, based on the exchange of letters of 2018 and the requests presented by President Osmani in the letter sent on 14 June. The mandate has been extended until 14 June 2022, with a possible extension for an additional year upon successful review of the Mission’s mandate by Kosovo President.

In her letter President Osmani said that institutions of Kosovo remain committed to guaranteeing rule of law, fulfilment of all obligations deriving from the Stabilization Association Agreement (SAA) and further advancing of cooperation between Kosovo and the European Union. /GazetaExpress/
