Kosovo certifies election results, Vetevendosje wins over 50 percent of votes

Kosovo’s Central Elections Commission (CEC) certified Saturday the results of 14 February snap election, Gazeta Express reports.

According to the certified results, the Vetevendosje won 50.28 percent or 438,335 votes; the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) is ranked as second with 17 percent or 148,285 votes; Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) is third with 12.73 percent or 110,985 votes.

The CEC chairwoman Valdete Daka said that 877,503 Kosovo citizens have exercised their right of vote on 14 February general election.

“The number of registered voters was 1,851.927, and 814.122 of them have cast their ballot. 89,257 voters have cast their ballot out of the polling stations, and the overall turnout was 48.78 percent. The number of invalid ballots was 21,523 whereas 5,511 ballots were empty,” Daka said.

With the final results announced the Vetevendosje will have 58 MPs; PDK 19; LDK 15; Srpska List 10; AAK 8; KDTP 2; VAKAT 1; IRDK 1; NDS 1; SDU 1; JGP 1; PAI 1; LRPK 1.

According to the Constitution of Kosovo, after certification of the election results, Kosovo president, in this case acting president Vjosa Osmani, within 30 days should call the first Parliament session, in order to form the new institutions based on the election results. /GazetaExpress/
