Kosovo bans Serbian basketball team from entering country
Kosovo Police have blocked a basketball team
from neighboring Serbia from entering the country to play a match against a
local all-Serb team in northern Kosovo, police have confirmed.
The Kosovo Police spokesperson, Daut
Hoxha, told Gazeta Express that the Serbian basketball team “Sloga” has not
asked for permission from the Kosovo authorities to enter the country’s
territory. “The team lacked a permission from relevant authorities, therefore
they were not allowed to enter the territory of the Republic of Kosovo,” Hoxha said.
The basketball team “Sloga” was stopped at the border crossings of Jarinje in
northern part of Kosovo inhabited mainly by Serbs. The club competing in the
second league of Serbian Basketball Federation was coming to Kosovo to play a
competitive game with the all-Serb team called Trepca from Mitrovica North, playing
competitive games within Serbian Basketball Federation. /GazetaExpress/
