Former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) commander, Kadri Veseli, was granted provisional release from the Kosovo Specialist Chambers detention center to travel to Kosovo.

Former chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Kadri Veseli, was seen Sunday at the regional hospital in Mitrovica South where his father is being kept after falling ill.

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers has confirmed the news. “Due to compelling humanitarian grounds, the Pre-Trial Judge has instructed the Registry to manage a custodial visit to Kosovo to meet immediate family. The Accused remains in pre-trial detention and in the custody of the Specialist Chambers. EULEX and Kosovo Police are supporting the Kosovo Specialist Chambers,” Angela Griep, spokesperson for the Specialist Chambers told Gazeta Express.

A Pre-Trial Judge of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers has confirmed the indictment against Veseli and three other senior KLA commanders, Hashim Thaci, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi on  26 October 2020. Following their arrests by the Specialist Prosecutor on 4 and 5 November, Veseli and others were transferred to the Detention Facilities of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) in The Hague.

The indictment, as confirmed, states that the war crimes of illegal or arbitrary arrest and detention, cruel treatment, torture, and murder, and the crimes against humanity of imprisonment, other inhumane acts, torture, murder, enforced disappearance of persons, and persecution were committed from at least March 1998 through September 1999.  /GazetaExpress/
