UPDATE: Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa, has resigned after his party lost election on Sunday. With over 99 percent of the votes counted, the LDK has around 13 percent of votes the worst result in its history.
Mustafa addressing media
after LDK’s chairmanship meeting confirmed that he has offered to resign due to
poor performance in election.
“I personally think that this is a very poor performance, we did not expect at all, based on the meetings we have in the field and the work done by LDK’s candidate for prime minister, Avdullah Hoti,” Mustafa said.
The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) chairman Isa Mustafa submitted his resignation in front of the party structures a few minutes ago, sources within the LDK leadership told Gazeta Express.
According to the same sources, Mustafa announced the news to members at the beginning of the party meeting that they are currently holding.
Isa Mustafa’s party
has marked the deepest defeat in its election history. The LDK has not won in
any municipality, while it has lost deeply in the municipalities where
officials of this political entity lead. The LDK under Mustafa’s leadership has
lost every national election. In fact, the last time this party won the general
election was under the leadership of Ibrahim Rugova. /GazetaExpress/
