Infrastructure Minister reveals US and EU promises for infrastructure projects in Kosovo

The Minister of Infrastructure, Arban Abrashi, reported today to the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development, Infrastructure and Environment regarding the Washington agreement, with emphasis on the infrastructure projects included in it.

Abrashi mentioned the projects they have presented in the US and the promises they have received for their implementation. “The first project is about the road, rail and air links, according to the letters of intent, then construction of the Besi-Merdare highway, a project which is ready for implementation. The second project is related to the construction of the 45-km highway Pristina-Merdare,” said Abrashi.

He also said that the EU has foreseen projects for railways from south to north, while the US will rehabilitate the railway network from west to east. Abrashi also spoke about the possibility for Kosovo to have access to the Adriatic Sea. “What is important to mention about the highway and railway project is that Kosovo through EU-funded projects is rehabilitating the infrastructure from the south to the north, while the US from west to east,” he said. “As for Pristina’s connection with the Adriatic Sea, we have presented the idea of a port, which would compete with other ports in the Mediterranean. The other projects are the ones we presented during the meetings with American corporations, that are not part of the agreement but have been discussed. We have also discussed the construction of the highway from Bresalci to Dheu i Bardhe as well as Brezovica.” /GazetaExpress/
