Hailstorm damages agriculture, horticulture crops in Kosovo
The rain and hailstorm, which
lashed some of Kosovo municipalities on Tuesday evening have caused damage to agriculture
and horticulture in the state.
The Rahovec municipality known for
its agriculture and vineyards was one of the most hit by Tuesday’s evening hailstorm.
Mayor of Rahovec, Smajl Latifi, said they are assessing the damages caused.
Caretaker minister of Agriculture, Besian Mustafa, told Gazeta Express that
within a week they will make a preliminary assessment of the damages and see
modalities of compensating farmers.
Mustafa said that after the rain
and hailstorm they are in contact with mayors and are asking establishment of
local commissions to assess the damage.
Tuesday’s rain and hailstorm hit municipalities of Peja, Ferizaj, Shtime, Gjakova, Suhareka, Klina and other localities. Gazeta Express readers from these localities have sent photos of hail causing damages to their agriculture crops. According to Prishtina Weather, light thunderstorms and rain will continue also on Wednesday. /GazetaExpress/
