Former US dialogue envoy calls Kurti “Anti-American”
Former US envoy on Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard
Grenell, has reacted after the Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti hinted that his
new Government might reconsider opening of the Kosovo’s Embassy in Jerusalem.
Kurti’s party – the Vetevendosje issued a statement Monday after Kurti met Turkish Ambassador to Kosovo writing that the place where the embassy will be located is to be considered following checking of the documentation of the outgoing government.
Grenell called Kurti as the “Left wing anti-American
new leader” who as he said, has been against US policies suggested by Bill
Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump and urged new US president
Joe Biden to stop him.
“The Left wing anti-American new leader of Kosovo Albin Kurti has been against US policies suggested by Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump. He’s always the anti-American. The Biden team should stop this,” Grenell wrote on Twitter.
Kurti is expected to form new Government of Kosovo
after his Vetevendosje movement party won early election held on 14 February.
Kosovo and Israel established last month diplomatic relations and Kosovo pledged to open its embassy in Jerusalem under the US-brokered deal, but the move was harshly criticised by Turkey and the European Union.
The decision for
mutual recognition between the two countries came after caretaker prime
minister Avdullah Hoti met with Serb President Aleksandar Vucic at the White
House on 4 September 2020 with then-President Donald Trump. /GazetaExpress/
