Ukrainian journalist Lyudmila Makey is the first who arrived in Kosovo on Sunday as part of the program Journalist in Residence in Kosovo. In March the Government of Kosovo signed a decree to offer shelter for up to six months to 20 Ukrainian journalists forced to leave their country following the invasion by Russia, Gazeta Express reports.

Representatives of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) have welcomed Makey at the Pristina International Airport. This project is being implemented by the AJK in coordination with the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) and the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ).

The Ukrainian journalist has been received also by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti who said that Kosovo supports the people of Ukraine and their war against Russian aggression. The president of the National Union of journalists of Ukraine, Sergiy Tomilenko, in a Tweet thanked the people of Kosovo for supporting Ukrainian journalists. Meanwhile the Kosovo public broadcaster RTK has expressed readiness to offer workplace (offices, desks, internet access and all relevant work equipment) for four journalists from Ukraine. /GazetaExpress/
