First group of Afghan refugees to arrive in Kosovo tonight

The first group of Afghan refugees are expected to arrive in Kosovo tonight after fleeing Taliban, Gazeta Express has learned. Kosovo pledged to shelter Afghan refugees who are being evacuated from the Kabul Airport after Taleban took over control of the country. Reportedly Kosovo state leaders will be at the International Airport of Pristina to welcome the first group of about 100 Afghans.

The United States have thanked Kosovo and Albanian authorities for their readiness to shelter US refugees. Also, Albania has expressed its readiness to shelter Afghans and the first group of refugees have already arrived in Albania.

US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip Kosnett On behalf of the United States, thanked the government and people of Kosovo for their willingness to offer refuge to US Afghan partners on their journey to a new life. “Once again, Kosovo demonstrates leadership on the global stage,” Kosnett wrote on statement posted on Twitter. /GazetaExpress/
