Ramush Haradinaj, chairman of the AAK, a junior coalition partner in the LDK-led Government of Avdullah Hoti, said the decision to extend the mandate of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers is unjust.

Haradinaj said that Kosovo has already faced war crimes indictments by the war crimes court in the Hague adding that the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) which is subjected to the prosecution and trying of the Special Court’s mandate, has committed on war crimes.

Haradinaj said that ex-KLA leaders who have been indicted by this Court on war crimes, including former president Hashim Thaci and former leader of PDK, Kadri Veseli, are innocent and this is proven with the large-scale massacres committed by Serbian forces all over Kosovo.

He urged ruling and opposition parties to unite and defend the values of the KLA. Haradinaj made the comments attending an event in Rahovec municipality.

On Thursday, the Specialist Chamber of the Constitutional Court has decided to extend the mandate of the Hague based court. The Constitutional Chamber decided that the proposed constitutional amendments, proposed by former president of Kosovo Hashim Thaci who is now subject of an indictment for war crimes filed by this Court, diminish the rights and freedoms guaranteed by Chapter II of the Constitution. The announcement was made public the same day the President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, Ekatarina Trendafilova, was mandated for a second four-year term as head of this Court. /GazetaExpress/
