Former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Pjeter Shala, who was arrested Tuesday in Belgium pursuant to arrest warrant of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers is being held in detention in the country where he was living pending transfer in The Hague, Netherlands where the Kosovo war crimes court is located.
The Kosovo Specialist Chambers issued a statement Tuesday said that the authorities of Belgium arrested Pjeter Shala, pursuant to an arrest warrant and confirmed indictment related to war crimes issued by a Pre-Trial Judge of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. “Pjetёr Shala will be detained in Belgium, pending any transfer to the detention facility of the KSC in The Hague,” according to the statement.
On Wednesday a spokesperson of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers said that they are currently unable to provide any information additional to that published Tuesday.
“We are currently unable to provide any information additional to that published in yesterday’s press release. Further information will be provided when available,” said Angela Griep, spokesperson for the Specialist Chambers.
In February 2019 Shala has stated that he was questioned by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) in his capacity as a suspect. /GazetaExpress/
