EU Special Representative on Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, says correction of border between Kosovo and Serbia does not contribute to stability in Balkans.
Speaking to Austrian News Agency APA the EU envoy on dialogue said land swap is not on dialogue agenda. He reiterated the same in a statement posted on his Twitter on Monday. “Last week, I spoke to APA about the EU-facilitated Dialogue, which aims at achieving a legally binding normalization agreement between Kosovo and Serbia. This must be in line with international law and contribute to stability in the region. The idea of land swaps does the opposite,” Lajcak said.
Lajcak speaking to APA said the land swap between Kosovo and Serbia is not and should not be on the EU’s agenda. “We have seen a very powerful reaction against the land swap idea – in Kosovo, in other countries of the region and the EU. This brings me to the conclusion that this issue is not and should not be on the agenda,” Lajcak said.
The EU High Representative Josep Borrell in an interview last week has not excluded land swap as a final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia if the two countries agree on this. He said that it is up to Pristina and Belgrade to decide on the topics of the dialogue. /GazetaExpress/
