European Union expects the Western Balkan leaders to refrain from statements that could be detrimental to good neighbourliness and reconciliation, the EU spokesman, Peter Stano, said on Monday when asked about the statements of the Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, against the Serbs that are disclosing locations of the Albanian mass graves in Serbia.

“It should be clear to all representatives of countries aspiring to join the EU that they should fulfil their obligations to strengthen good neighbourly relations and regional co-operation,” said Stano. “These are values that the EU protects and promotes. Political leaders should really set an example by choosing to work together, to promote cooperation and a climate of mutual trust, respect and understanding, not to make statements that go the opposite way.” Stano also said that in general, the EU does not comment on the statements of politicians, but in recent days they have noticed that some statements do not go toward increasing trust and reconciliation between the peoples of the Western Balkans region. /GazetaExpress/
