The EU Election Observation Mission says early parliamentary elections held on 6 October 2019, were well-administered and transparent, but the vote counting process exposed vulnerabilities which they recommend needs to be addressed in Kosovo’s election reform.
The EU Election Observation Mission presented the Mission’s final report and its recommendations of the early legislative elections held on 6 October 2019. Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, a Member of the European Parliament, and Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission, emphasised among other things the pressure to vote certain parties in Serb-inhabited areas.
She said that vote-counting credibility and delays in certification of results came after the Central Elections Commission (CEC) failed to take timely decision and because of the controversies with the decision of the election results appeal bodies. Von Cramon-Taubadel presenting the final report said the EU Mission has 23 recommendations which would improve election process in Kosovo. /GazetaExpress/
