High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, ahead of his visit to the region on Thursday and Friday said he is determined to resume talks between Kosovo and Serbia, Gazeta Express reports.

“I am looking forward to my first official visit to the Western Balkans which demonstrates our commitment to the EU perspective of the region, stability, security and prosperity,” he said. “It will be a priority during my mandate and given my personal determination to advance the EU-facilitated Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, I wanted to visit Kosovo and Serbia first in the region. There is a lot of important work ahead, including normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina. I am looking forward to getting to know Kosovo and Serbia and to meeting the people of these states,” Borrell said.

The EU Office in Pristina confirmed that EU High Representative Borrell will visit Kosovo tomorrow, (30 January). During the visit Borrell will meet Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and leaders of parliamentary political parties. He will also visit the Kosovo B power plant in Obiliq, to inaugurate the works, funded by the European Union with 76.4 million euro that will reduce harmful emissions up to 35 times. Later in the day, he will visit Prizren. /GazetaExpress/
