After the publication of the draft budget for 2026, regarding the budgeting of the National Stadium, the mayor of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, emphasized that it is located in the most strategic area, according to him, in the heart of Kosovo.

Based on the draft budget data, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (Ministry of Sports), under program 207100 – Sports, has planned and budgeted project no. 14226, “National Football Stadium”.
However, the location of the project has not been determined, as required by Administrative Instruction 06/2019, the budget is as follows:
Year 2026: 4,000,000.00 euros,
Year 2027: 5,000,000.00 euro,
Year 2028: 6,000,000.00 euros.
The location of the National Stadium remains unclear to the public.
The location of the National Stadium has been determined in the Sankoc Cadastral Zone, which borders the Municipality of Fushë Kosovë, on the edge of the "Ibrahim Rugova" highway, the most strategic area in the heart of Kosovo.
A feasibility study has been conducted for this location, the project and expropriation have been drafted, the total value of the funds spent is around 10 million euros.
We are convinced that financial bloodshed will not be allowed with the tendency to change the location, otherwise, we will follow all legal mechanisms to prevent this from happening.
The determined location was not linked to any material or political influence, because the Feasibility Study for the Stadium was conducted by international experts and was assessed as the most suitable at the country level.
All the reasons presented in the study hold true. The rationale for building the Stadium there is related to conditions such as location, space, environment, access, mobility, means of transportation, etc.
A little history about this issue:
On March 18, 2014, the then Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi made a decision to build the National Stadium in Bërnica. Developments at the central level led to a decision on December 4, 2017, by the then Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, and the conceptual design, feasibility study, expropriations, etc., were made in Sankoc.
Kosovo needs a national stadium, the sooner it is built, the better for athletes, sports fans, and the reputation of our country!
