An investigation has begun into yesterday's incident at the "Trepça" mine in Stan-Tërg, where 18 miners were trapped for over 12 hours at a depth of about 800 meters.

Kosovo Police have announced that the prosecutor has been notified and that the case is under investigation.

"The two male Kosovar complainants, an official and the director of the Trepça mine, reported that as a result of a lightning rod cable breaking, a fire was caused, which completely damaged an electrical transformer, leaving the mine without power. As a result, the lift for transporting miners was out of operation and 48 workers were left in the mine. The relevant police, emergency and fire departments arrived at the scene. The miners left the mine in good health. The prosecutor has been notified of the case. The case is under investigation," the KP report states.

All miners managed to exit the mine in good health, some through emergency exits.
